1 Month Already??

I can't believe it... Cole is already 1 month old!! Time has been flying by!! I'm not going to lie... being a mommy is very hard, but I love it. It's the most rewarding job I've ever had & every time this little guy looks at me he just melts my heart.

As of Saturday he is up to 8lbs!! He does not see the pediatrician until he is 2 months, so I am getting excited to see all his stats!! He still only fits in newborn diapers & clothes... he is still a tiny one :) Although right now I am enjoying his little state because we don't have very much 0-3 month stuff.. We anticipated him being a lot bigger than he was, so a lot of his clothes are 3 months.. So we're going to have to go get some more clothes soon!! But I am not wishing at all that he gets bigger any time soon!!

Things have been a little rough lately.. He is definitely going through some kind of growth spurt or something.. He just wants to eat or be held!! Makes getting things done around the house kind of hard!!

So here are a few new pics from the last week. Yeah yeah... I know I'm biased, but I think he is the cutest baby ever!

Happy 1 year to us!!

and I love him soo much more today than the day we got married!!

I can't believe we've been married for a year already. Time flies!! Our lives have changed soo much in the last year.. We got married, moved away from family and friends for Hubs's training, found out we were expecting our first child, and had our first child all in the first year!! I'm so thankful to have found the perfect husband to share the rest of my life with & can't wait for the next 50+ years to come :) I love him and our little family! ::sigh::

We are not doing anything too special.. Just hanging out together with our little guy! Plus, we're in Middle of Nowhere, Texas and do not have too many options here.. And hubs needs to study and stay on track with training.. So we are not going too crazy!! We did get a bottle of champagne to help celebrate today.. Its the type we had the night we got married!!

Mimi came to our RESCUE!!

Soo, I feel like I have tried anything and everything to get Little Cole to nurse... All but one thing, that I could think of, at least.. Well my semi-last resort was a "nipple shield." These are used for people who have sore nipples during BFing or if you are having latching issues.. Which, I am! I wish sore nipples were the least of my problems! But here is what it looks like:


This is my new best friend.. (Vic I still love you, too haha! ) Since we do not have anything but a Walmart within 250 miles of us.. I had to call my mom and have her search for this item! I could have ordered it but it was soo much fast having Mimi locate it and overnight it! Which she did!!

Basically, I feel like the reason Cole will not nurse is because he keeps his tongue at the top of his mouth. Even when he takes a bottle, it takes him a few minutes to relax and move his tongue so he can swallow easier.. At his 2 week appointment I made sure he did not have a tongue tie, and he does not.. So, yesterday was the first try at the nipple shield.. And after a little bit of fussing and fighting and soaking everything, HE LATCHED ON!!! I was soo excited, I almost cried!! Unfortunately he still continues to fight nursing for about 10 minutes and then finally gives in.. Hopefully he will start to get used to this and get better at nursing.. So please keep praying!! At least we are on the right track!!!

In other news! Hub's flight put up a little sign in our front yard to announce the birth of our little guy!! How cute is this???

We had his 2 week appointment today.. He is up to 6lb 10oz!! Yay!! he is gaining weight!! I was worried about that!! But everything else is going good with Mr. Cole!

Now for the weekend!! I think we are just going to relax!! Its been a long week for Hubs!!

No sign of relief... :(

Welp, you read that right... So far, no sign of relief when it comes to this battle between my loving son and me.. He still refuses to nurse.. And it is getting really discouraging for me.. My day is completely consumed with trying to nurse Cole, then feeding him pumped milk, and then finding time to pump.. And repeat! Yes, I know the main thing is that Cole is getting the nutrients and all that good stuff from the BM, but I was really set on Breastfeeding.. Guess its going to be Pumping and then feeding for him.. Uhhhg.. Maybe one day soon he'll catch on?? I keep telling myself that I am not going to give up, but its soooo hard to watch my little guy throw his tantrums.. Not sure what to do..

Cole has also come up with a fun game to play at night.. Its called "Lets see how many times I can make mommy think I am wake, when I am really still sleeping.." :) HAHA!! I guess he is a restless sleeper because he will make noises that make me think he is waking up and almost ready to eat.. But then I go in and check on him and he is still motionless and sound asleep. I am beginning to explore the ideas of getting a Video monitor to help with this!!

I have also realized that Cole loves to be outside.. Any time his fussy and upset, I just walk outside with him and he almost immediately stops crying.. Guess he likes the noises of the birds and the planes flying?? Or maybe the warm air? Either way, he is an outside kind of guy!!

We both have our two week check ups this week.. Hope they go well!! Maybe the doctor will have some suggestions for getting Cole to nurse?? Probably not! :)
